As indicated in Wikipedia, her 2004 novel A Complicated Kindness was her breakthrough work,  spending over a year on the Canadian bestseller lists and winning the Governor General's Award for English Fiction. The novel, was also nominated for the Giller Prize.   Miriam Toews who grew up in Steinbach and now lives in Toronto, is back in Manitoba to promote the release of a new book called Irma Voth.  Miriam joined us on the CFAM morning show, and assured us she was still a prairie person


 

Miriam also made her screen debut in the Mexican film Luz silenciosa and was nominated for Best Actress at Mexico's Ariel Awards for her performance in the film.  Her latest book, Irma Voth, was released at the end of April, and can be found in most Manitoba Bookstores, and your local public library
