The Manitoba Moose wrapped up their eight-game homestand with a 5-3 victory over the Abbotsford Heat at MTS Centre in Winnipeg. Guillaume Desbiens scored a pair of goals for the Moose while singles went to Garth Murray, Mark Flood and Shawn Weller. Manitoba goaltender Tyler Weiman stopped 29 shots in recording his sixth win in his last six starts. The Moose, who will begin a seven-game road trip Tuesday in Hamilton, are three points back of the Bulldogs in the race for top spot in the American Hockey League's North Division. Manitoba has two games in hand on Hamilton. The Vancouver Canucks have re-assigned foward Sergei Shirokov to the Moose and have recalled defenceman Lee Sweatt.
