Baldur resident, Wilf Hodgson encourages his neighbors to break the hibernation habit by attending this month's Pre-Spring Fling!

But to Hodgson, his neighbors come from miles around, and everyone who enjoys great local music, good food, and raising money for a good cause are welcome to attend!

The 79 years old Baldur resident has been organizing the Baldur Pre Spring Fling event for about a half dozen years, always in mid-February, as kind of a way to get out of the winter doldrums.  And each year Wilf and his community raise funds for a different charitable organization.

"We've never done a supper before so this will be kind of an experiment," shares Hodgson, "and if we make any money, it will be going to the Canadian Diabetes Association. In the past we've supported Heart & Stroke, and Cystic Fibrosis and Cancer Care.  We just pick a different one each year."

Finding performers for his annual event is challenging he says.  "Everybody wants to be paid and we pay our performers with coffee and cookies!"

Hodgson plays the harmonica at different community events, specifically in personal care homes of his own and neighboring communities.  He will be opening the Pre-Spring musical program for the afternoon.  AND he did share that his great granddaughter will be playing the ukulele.

Baldur's Pre-Spring Fling will be held Sunday afternoon, February 11th at the Baldur Memorial Hall, 142 First St. Baldur.

Free music and entertainment take place from 2-5 pm, with lots of local talent, and some out-of-towners- to boot!

A pork loin supper, meatballs and all the fixings' will be held from 5:30-7:30 pm.  And supper take outs are available for those not able to stay at the hall.

Pre-ordering and ticket purchases are preferred before February 5th.

Dinner Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at the Baldur Trading, Baldur Pharmacy and the Baldur Sunrise Credit Union.  Or you can contact Wilf Hodgson directly to purchase tickets.  Afternoon entertainment with coffee and cookies is free to the public.
