The province has issued a preliminary flood outlook for next spring due to all the rain this fall.

Phillip Mutulu is the director of flood forecasting at Manitoba Water Stewardship. He says the potential for spring flooding is high if we get normal snowfall this year.

But he adds, "We need to wait and make an assessment after we've had the snowfall and have measured the snowpack. Normally in February, we have a good assessment of the potential."

Mutulu says, as is customary,  they'll provide their first official flood forecast at the end of February.
