The following is the RCMP report to February 14, 2024.  This reporting period, police responded to the following calls for service.

 

-  9 traffic violations

-  15 provincial statute (Mental Health Act, Fire Prevention Act, Coroner's Act, 911 Act)

-  20 common police activities (alarms, suspicious persons/vehicles, assistance to general public)

-  19 crimes against property

-  4 other criminal code

-  4 crimes against persons

-  4 traffic accidents

-  2 impaired driving investigation

-  0 drug enforcement

 

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:

Just a reminder that RCMP DO NOT do child abuse and adult abuse registry checks.  RCMP is responsible for criminal record checks and vulnerable sector checks.  You require a vulnerable sector check if you are in a position of trust. You must present to the detachment when applying for a vulnerable sector check. 

Position of Trust means a paid or voluntary position dealing with vulnerable people. Vulnerable people may include children, youth, the elderly, people with physical, developmental, emotional, social, or other disabilities, people who are addicted or dependent on addictive substances, and people who have been the victim of a crime or an accident.

Applicants who require a Vulnerable Sector Check from their organization must present themselves in person and provide written consent in order for the checks to be conducted.

Proper identification must be produced and recorded on the application: a government issued photo identification for the Primary Document, and a secondary document which verifies the Primary identification.

 

YOUTH CRIMINAL RECORD CHECKS

Criminal record checks cannot be done on youth unless working in Government. It has been established that non-provincially or municipally run summer camps and pools, public/private schools including colleges/universities are not government employers.

 

January 25, 2024

Police were dispatched to a break and enter in Boissevain. Suspect was a lone male, approximately 6 feet, grey sweat suit, hoody, mask and black shoes with a white logo. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of an assault in Boissevain. The matter was unfounded.

Police received a report of a vehicle around Killarney always driving drunk. Police spoke with the suspect who advised they do not drink and the day in question he was running errands.

Police received a report of fraud in Ninette. Complainant had $1000 charged to credit card. Bank has reversed the charges.

 

January 26, 2024

Police were dispatched to a residence fire in the RM of Argyle. No one was in the residence at the time. No injuries and nothing suspicious.

Police received a breach of peace in Cartwright. Police attended and found an argument had taken place. A female had left once she found police were called. The homeowner advised that he just wanted her removed.

 

January 27, 2024

Police received a report of an impaired driver in Baldur. The suspect was located and the matter was unfounded.

Police were dispatched at 3:17 am to a residence in Baldur when an intoxicated female was causing a disturbance and trying to fight family members. Police attended and learned the female had left the house. Multiple threats were made when she knew police were coming. Police located the female and arrested to prevent continuation of the offence. The victim declined to press charges.

Police received a 911 call of a disturbance at the rink in Boissevain. It was reported that a male was causing a disturbance. Police attended, spoke to a female who the complainant said the issue occurred with. There was a disagreement over a children's hockey game and two males grabbed each other but no physical altercation took place.

 

January 28, 2024

Police received a report of a stolen ATV from a shed in the RM of Brenda-Waskada. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of theft from a vehicle in Killarney. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

 

January 29, 2024

Police assisted with a matter under the Child Welfare Act in Cartwright.

Police assisted with a matter regarding well-being in Goodlands.

Police received a report of a missing person in the RM of Argyle. Located a short time later.

 

January 30, 2024

Police received a call of suspicious activity in Killarney. A resident was woken up by her dogs barking. They heard three loud knocks on the front door and when they opened the door they found a big bag on fire on the front steps which were wooden. They put the fire out and there was fortunately no damage. Police attended, evidence gathered. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of disturbing the peace in Deloraine. The matter was unfounded.

Police did a well-being check in Boissevain-Morton area. Everyone located safe.

Police received a report of mischief in Rock Lake. Insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a request to do a well-being check in Killarney. Police located everyone safe.

Police received a report in Cartwright regarding a dog barking outside.  Ongoing issue. Not a police matter.

 

February 1, 2024

Police received a report of identity theft in Boissevain. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of a scam in the Brenda-Waskada area where a significant amount of money was lost. The matter is being investigated.

 

February 3, 2024

Police responded to a 911 call for assistance for a breach of peace in Killarney. The matter was resolved.

Police received a report of a stolen car in Killarney overnight. Vehicle was located in the RM of Prairie Lakes and was torched by suspects. Evidence was gathered and the matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of breach of peace in Goodlands. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of a break and enter to a business overnight. Did not appear to be anything missing.

Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act in Boissevain.

 

February 5, 2024

Police received a report of a theft of vehicle overnight in Killarney. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of a break and enter to business in Killarney. The door was kicked in but nothing appears to be missing. Matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of another break and enter to a business in Killarney. Door was also kicked in.  Matter is under investigation.

Police assisted with an animal call in the RM of Prairie Lakes.

Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act in the RM of Prairie Lakes.

 

February 8, 2024

Police responded to a 2-vehicle collision on highway 5 North of Cartwright. A vehicle travelling along the highway slid into the back of a semi-trailer due to poor road conditions. The driver of the vehicle was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

 

February 9, 2024

Police responded to a wellbeing check in the Boissevain-Morton area. Everyone was located safe.

Police responded to a call under the Mental Health Act in the Municipality of Boissevain-Morton.

 

February 10, 2024

RCMP responded to a call under the Mental Health Act in Belmont.

RCMP responded to a call of a suspicious person at a residence in Killarney. The matter was unfounded.

 

February 11, 2024

RCMP received a report of a suspicious person outside a business in Ninette. Patrols were made but the person was gone upon arrival.

 

February 12, 2024

RCMP received a report of mischief in Killarney. Police followed up with the complainant to get additional information.

RCMP received another report of mischief in Killarney. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

RCMP received a 911 call from the RM of Cartwright-Roblin. The situation was not a police matter.

 

February 13, 2024

RCMP responded to a 2-vehicle collision on highway 21 & 3 in the RM of Deloraine-Winchester. A semi unit was travelling westbound and struck the back end of a vehicle at the intersection. No injuries were reported.

RCMP responded to a call under the Mental Health Act in Deloraine.

RCMP responded to a wellbeing check in Deloraine. Everyone was located safely.

 

Reminder:  It is important to report ALL thefts, stolen or lost property to police in a timely fashion so that it can be followed up on by police.

RCMP would like to remind the public to keep their vehicle doors locked at night and not to leave keys inside.

Police continue to remind residents to never provide personal information such as birth dates, SIN numbers, credit card numbers, or e-mail address to parties you do not know.  If you feel that you have been contacted by a fraudulent source, please contact police or Canadian AntiFraud Center immediately for further instructions on what you can do.  Canadian Antifraud Centre can be reached directly at 1-888-495-8501, however also report same to the local detachment.

We would like to advise that the business hours of operation at the Killarney Detachment are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. 

Boissevain Detachment business hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.
