December 22, 2021

Police were dispatched to a fire in the RM of Grassland.  It was reported there was 200 plus cattle in the dairy farm.  Fire department attended and extinguished the fire with no loss of cattle.  Statements obtained.  Nothing suspicious.

December 23, 2021

Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act in Killarney.

Police received a report of uttering threats in Killarney.  The matter was unfounded.

Police assisted ambulance with a medical call in Hartney.

Police were dispatched to a do a well being check on a male walking near highway 18, possibly intoxicated.  The male was located safe.

December 24, 2021

Police did a COVID compliance check in Deloraine-Winchester.

Police received a report of a commercial vehicle in the ditch just north of the vet clinic on Highway 18 in Killarney. The driver of vehicle was unable to get the vehicle out as it was stuck. Police attended the scene, driver of vehicle was in good health and did not need medical assistance, waiting for a tow truck. Did not want police to wait with him.

Police were called for a general inquiry regarding COVID and self isolation for a family member situation. The complainant was instructed to call Health-Links Manitoba.

December 27, 2021

Killarney RCMP received a call of a fraud in Ninette. Complainant reported that they were defrauded on Facebook Marketplace by a male. The complainant transferred $1,650.00 to the subject, in exchange for a C-can, which they thought they legitimately bought from website deepcans.com. They expected the C-can to be delivered on the 26th, which never arrived, and the profile and ad for the C-can is no longer there.  Police obtained statements, reviewed screenshots and invoice. The complainant was informed by their bank that they were unable to recover money. Police referred the complainant to Canadian anti-fraud centre.  The matter is under investigation.

RCMP received a call of a hazard on the roadway in Boissevain. Fire Department requested Police to help as the semi-truck was leaking fuel on the highway. Semi-driver reporting he was proceeding south bound, gauges "went crazy", driver parked on the side of the road at the furthest lane to the right and began leaking fuel very quickly. By the time police arrived, Fire Department controlled the leak, stopping the fuel line. Driver was courtesy escorted to the Subway in town for place to stay warm. The driver contacted his company and the vehicle was towed

Police were patrolling highway 3 and located a vehicle abandoned partially on shoulder, however, parked on roadway blocking part of eastbound lane. The same also reported by Manitoba Highways. The vehicle insurance was inactive, no one around the vehicle. Police towed the vehicle to avoid a collision as visibility and road conditions were extremely poor with blowing snow and high snow drifts.  Police served the registered owner with a ticket for drive an unregistered vehicle.

Police were dispatched to assist Manitoba Conservation as they were unavailable to attend highway 10 and put down an injured deer.  Police were unable to locate the deer after a thorough search.

December 28, 2021

Police received a report of child pornography in Killarney.  The matter was resolved without charges due to the circumstances of the investigation and educational awareness was explained.

December 29, 2021

Police received an anonymous report of a male driving in Killarney without a license.  The male was run on police systems and does in fact have a license.  The matter was unfounded.

Police received a report of failing to comply with a probation order in Killarney.  There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a report of a vehicle in the ditch north of Ninette. Police were unable to attend right way due to another priority call. Police later attended, the vehicle  was located on the driver's side, not a complete rollover, radio in vehicle still on (vehicle appeared operable), footwear impressions and tracks in snow indicate at least one occupant making onto road way. No signs of anyone in the area, vehicle not reported stolen. Keys were still in vehicle. Police were unable to contact the registered owner by phone and asked Brandon Police service to attend the residence to ensure occupants of vehicle are okay and safe. Brandon Police called stating everyone is fine.

Police did a COVID compliance check in the Killarney-Turtle Mountain area.

December 31, 2021

Police were informed of an abandoned vehicle parked on Pelican Lake road. Police arrived on scene, no signs of the registered owner. Police did neighbourhood inquires and checks on the Registered owner who later called Killarney detachment to inform police he was in good health and in the process of moving the vehicle.

January 1, 2022

Police received a report of a two vehicle accident on Highway 18 when a vehicle pulled out onto highway 18 from North Railway Street in Killarney. One driver sought medical treatment for minor injuries. Police spoke to the other driver over the phone who provided sufficient details regarding the accident and declined medical treatment. Reported for insurance purposes. 

January 2, 2022

Police received report of horses not being cared for properly in the RM of Prairie Lakes.  The matter was referred to the Animal care line of the Provincial Vet.

Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act in Killarney.

Police continue to remind residents to never provide personal information such as birth dates, SIN numbers, credit card numbers, or e-mail address to parties you do not know.  If you feel that you have been contacted by a fraudulent source, please contact police or Phone Busters Fraud Center immediately for further instructions on what you can do.  Phone Busters can be reached directly at 1-888-495-8501, however also report same to the local detachment.

We would like to advise that the business hours of operation at the Killarney Detachment are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. 

Boissevain RCMP will be open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
