The following is the RCMP report to May 29, 2023.  This reporting period, police responded to the following calls for service.

- 12 traffic violations

- 16 provincial statute (Mental Health Act, Fire Prevention Act, Coroner's Act, 911 Act)

- 27 common police activities (alarms, suspicious persons/vehicles, assistance to general public)

- 23 crimes against property

- 8 other criminal code

- 4 crimes against persons

- 2 traffic accidents

- 1 impaired driver

- 3 drug related

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:

Just a reminder that RCMP DO NOT do child abuse and adult abuse registry checks.  RCMP is responsible for criminal record checks and vulnerable sector checks.  You require a vulnerable sector check if you are in a position of trust. You must present to the detachment when applying for a vulnerable sector check.  Criminal record checks may not be mailed to RCMP for processing.

Position of Trust means a paid or voluntary position dealing with vulnerable people. Vulnerable people may include children, youth, the elderly, people with physical, developmental, emotional, social, or other disabilities, people who are addicted or dependent on addictive substances, and people who have been the victim of a crime or an accident.

Applicants who require a Vulnerable Sector Check from their organization must present themselves in person and provide written consent in order for the checks to be conducted.

Proper identification must be produced and recorded on the application: a government issued photo identification for the Primary Document, and a secondary document which verifies the Primary identification.

YOUTH CRIMINAL RECORD CHECKS

Criminal record checks cannot be done on youth unless working in Government. It has been established that non-provincially or municipally run summer camps and pools, public/private schools including colleges/universities are not government employers.

 

May 11, 2023

Police received a request for a check well-being in Deloraine. Everyone located safe.

Police received a report of disturbing the peace in Killarney due to an argument. All parties agreed to stay away from each other.

 

May 12, 2023

Police assisted with a matter regarding an animal complaint in Boissevain.

Police received a report of mischief in Boissevain. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a call to report a car speeding in Killarney, no identifiable descriptors for the vehicle provided. Police were in Boissevain at the time. Several patrols were made upon return to Killarney. Nothing located.

 

May 13, 2023

Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act in Killarney.

Police were requested to do a well-being check in Deloraine. Everyone located safe.

Police assisted with a matter under the Child Welfare Act in the RM of Argyle.

Police received a report of theft in Killarney when a red plastic gas can was stolen from a boat overnight. Video surveillance on site but had an obstructed view of the area.

 

Apparently Apple has a new feature that if a phone is dropped it can signal that the person was in a vehicle accident. This is what occurred that was dispatched due to the "what if" factor. Fire, EMS and police dispatched to Deloraine because Apple triggered a possible accident. Thankfully, on call back the phone was answered and it was confirmed he dropped his phone and was not in an accident. Simply unbelievable!

May 15, 2023

A theft of gas was reported in Killarney. Insufficient evidence to proceed.

Report of a suspicious person in Killarney. Patrols were made and no one matching the description was found.

Police received a report of a male with an outstanding warrant at a location in Boissevain. Police attended but the male was gone on police arrival.

 

May 16, 2023

Police received a report of a missing youth in Deloraine. Police then received a report of a stolen vehicle and a break and enter and it was believed to be the missing youth. Police enlisted help from the Police Dog Service. The youth was located safe and charges are pending.

Police received a report of a female failing to comply with an order. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of a suspicious person on Laurier Avenue in Killarney. Police attended and no one was located.

Police were dispatched to an unwanted person in Cartwright. A male was removed from the residence peacefully.

 

May 17, 2023

Police received a report of a theft of a significant amount of tools in Killarney. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of a break and enter to a business in Killarney. Nothing appeared to be missing. No further investigational avenue to pursue.

Police received a report of a theft truck last night. The truck was located in a nearby field, keys in vehicle. The vehicle has been added to the police system as stolen. Police remind the public once again, to not leave keys or valuables in their vehicles.

 

May 18, 2023

Police received a report of a lost 3 x 5 fibre glass engine cover on Highway 10. If anyone finds the cover, please contact Boissevain RCMP.

Police received a report of vandalism in the RM of Argyle. The matter is under investigation.

 

May 19, 2023

Police assisted to a matter under the Mental Health Act in Boissevain.

Police were asked to do a well-being check in Medora. Everyone located safe.

Police dealt with an animal call in the Neelin area.

Police received a report of a suspicious vehicle in Holmfield. The complainant stated he saw a van parked on the side of the road. The police made patrols and located the subject vehicle with the same license plate parked in Holmfield. A male and female were identified. No concerns for safety.

 

May 20, 2023

Police received a report of an assault in Boissevain. A male was arrested, charged and released on an undertaking.

Police were dispatched for a traffic offence in Killarney. A male was reported driving without a license. Police called the complainant and they were not in contact with the suspect anymore. Police made patrols for the vehicle in the area but same was not located.

 

May 21, 2023

Police received a report of mischief in Boissevain. The matter is being investigated.

Police received a report of a missing youth in Deloraine. Everyone located safe.

Police were dispatched to a report of shots near the town of Belmont. Police attended, searched the area and no sign of a disturbance was found.

Police received a report of a fight in Killarney. The matter is under investigation.

 

May 24, 2023

Police received a request to do a well-being check in Killarney. Everyone located safe.

Police received a report of fraud in the RM of Prairie Lakes. The matter is under investigation.

During a traffic stop, police arrested a male who was in possession of a small quantity of meth and had an outstanding warrant. The male was remanded into custody.

Police arrested a female on an outstanding warrant in Killarney. The female was remanded into custody.

Police received a report of a dog that had been poisoned in Boissevain. There was no evidence to proceed.

 

May 25, 2023

Police received a report of a male failing to comply with a probation order in Killarney. Police attended, located and arrested the male who was charged with failing to comply probations. He will appear in court at a later date.

Drug paraphernalia was turned over to police in Killarney to destroy.

Police did a well-being check in Boissevain. Everyone located safe.

Police received a report of fraud in Killarney. The complainant was instructed to buy gift cards and send the numbers to scammers. This was done by the complainant. Please remember not to buy gift cards or send money as a condition of collecting money as a prize.

Police received a report of fraud in Neelin. The matter is under investigation.

 

May 26, 2023

Police received a report of a breach of peace in Killarney. Police attended the male was spoken to.

Police received a report of computer fraud in Boissevain. Insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a request to do a well-being check on a male in Killarney. Everyone located safe.

Police received a report of a possible impaired driver in Hartney. Police were in Ninette at the time of the call. Police called the complainant back who advised the vehicle was no longer at the dispatch address.

Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act in Killarney.

 

May 27, 2023

Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act in Deloraine.

Police received a request to obtain property for someone in RM of Grassland. The complainant was advised to get a third party to assist.

Police received a report of a loud party in Killarney. Police attended the party, and the party was shut down.

May 29, 2023

Police received a report of a fraud in Cartwright-Roblin area. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of a vehicle fire in Waskada.

 

Reminder:  It is important to report ALL thefts, stolen or lost property to police in a timely fashion so that it can be followed up on by police.

Police continue to remind residents to never provide personal information such as birth dates, SIN numbers, credit card numbers, or e-mail address to parties you do not know.  If you feel that you have been contacted by a fraudulent source, please contact police or Canadian AntiFraud Center immediately for further instructions on what you can do.  Canadian Antifraud Centre can be reached directly at 1-888-495-8501, however also report same to the local detachment.

Boissevain Detachment business hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.
