The following is the RCMP report to October 3, 2023.  This reporting period, police responded to the following calls for service.

 

- 16 traffic violations

- 16 provincial statute (Mental Health Act, Fire Prevention Act, Coroner's Act, 911 Act)

- 20 common police activities (alarms, suspicious persons/vehicles, assistance to general public)

- 12 crimes against property

- 7 other criminal code

- 3 crimes against persons

- 1 impaired investigation

- 1 traffic accidents

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:

Just a reminder that RCMP DO NOT do child abuse and adult abuse registry checks.  RCMP is responsible for criminal record checks and vulnerable sector checks.  You require a vulnerable sector check if you are in a position of trust. You must present to the detachment when applying for a vulnerable sector check. 

 

Position of Trust means a paid or voluntary position dealing with vulnerable people. Vulnerable people may include children, youth, the elderly, people with physical, developmental, emotional, social, or other disabilities, people who are addicted or dependent on addictive substances, and people who have been the victim of a crime or an accident.

Applicants who require a Vulnerable Sector Check from their organization must present themselves in person and provide written consent in order for the checks to be conducted.

Proper identification must be produced and recorded on the application: a government issued photo identification for the Primary Document, and a secondary document which verifies the Primary identification.

 

YOUTH CRIMINAL RECORD CHECKS

Criminal record checks cannot be done on youth unless working in Government. It has been established that non-provincially or municipally run summer camps and pools, public/private schools including colleges/universities are not government employers.

 

September 19, 2023

Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act in Killarney.

Police received a report of uttering threats in the Ninette area. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a report of speeding an off-road vehicle in Killarney. Police warning was issued.

 

September 20, 2023

Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act in Boissevain.

Police received a request for a well-being check in the United States. The complainant was instructed to speak with US authorities.

Police received a report of a suspicious vehicle in Hartney. Further patrols will be made.

Police received a report of two cows on highway 253. Cows had moooooved along by the time police arrived.

Police received a report of a dangerous driver on highway 10. A red Chevy Cruze with a Saskatchewan license plate was speeding and tried to cut off the complainant and almost hit an oncoming semi. No license plate number was obtained.

 

September 21, 2023

Police assisted with a matter under the Family Orders and Agreements Act in Baldur.

Police attended a location in the RM of Argyle to keep the peace.

 

September 22, 2023

RCMP received call for a cow that was shot and killed in the RM of Cartwright-Roblin. The complainant stated he found he cow dead in his field, believes it was shot sometime in the last 4-5 days. Conservation is assisting.

Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act in Killarney.

RCMP was dispatched to an erratic driver, driving a black Chevy Camaro unknown plates. Police patrolled and could not locate the vehicle.

Police responded to a single vehicle collision at Intersection of Highway 18 and 23.  Fire and EMS attended. A truck was located in the ditch directly in front of intersection. A witness saw a male leave the scene and picked up by another vehicle. Police located the driver at a residence in Killarney. Police checks showed the male driver was prohibited from driving. He was arrested, charged and released on an Appearance Notice.

 

September 24, 2023

Police received a report of mischief in Ninette. The matter was resolved.

Police received a report of a blue flat deck hitting centre line on highway 10 by Boissevain. No plate was provided. Members attended area and did not see vehicle.

Police received a request for a well-being check in Killarney. Everyone located safe.

 

September 25, 2023

Police were dispatched to a collision, vehicle vs moose, on highway 251 near Waskada. No injuries were sustained except for the moose. The animal was removed from the roadway.

Police received several reports of a female walking in the area pushing a stroller at all hours of the day and night. The female has been checked on by police in our area and other jurisdictions and is fine, has adequate clothing and food.

Police received a report of failing to comply with an order in Hartney. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of a wallet that was lost in Winnipeg. The complainant was advised to call Winnipeg Police.

 

September 27, 2023

Police received a report of a fraud in Boissevain when scammers asked that gift cards be sent to Publisher's Clearing House. Several thousand dollars had been sent already and the complainant was advised to not send any more and cease contact with scammers.

Police received a report of a theft of chainsaw from a garage in Baldur.

Police received a report of a dispute in Killarney. Both parties were advised to get a peace bond as this matter has been ongoing.

 

September 28, 2023

Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act in Margaret.

Police were advised of cattle on the highway 3. No cows located.

Police received a report of a male failing to comply with an order in Deloraine. There was insufficient evidence.

Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act in Boissevain.

Police assisted with a matter under the Family Orders and Agreements Act in Deloraine.

Police received a report of disturbing the peace in Killarney. Police attended the residence and the subject left before police arrived.

 

September 29, 2023

During a traffic stop, police arrested a male who was charged with fraud from a previous incident. He was released on an undertaking and will appear in court at a later date.

 

September 30, 2023

Police received a call that a semi was swerving all over the road on highway 10. Police could not locate the vehicle. No license plate was provided.

 

October 1, 2023

Police received a report of an assault with a weapon in Lake Metigoshe. Injuries were sustained by one male. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of a domestic dispute in Killarney. Police arrived and a verbal dispute between two parties was taking place. The matter was resolved.

Police assisted with a matter under the Family Law Act in Ninette. Police were unable to intervene at the time as no offence had been committed.

 

October 2, 2023

Police received a report of a missing person in Killarney. The matter was unfounded.

 

October 3, 2023

Police were asked to do a well-being check in Killarney. Everyone located safe.

 

Reminder:  It is important to report ALL thefts, stolen or lost property to police in a timely fashion so that it can be followed up on by police.

Police continue to remind residents to never provide personal information such as birth dates, SIN numbers, credit card numbers, or e-mail address to parties you do not know.  If you feel that you have been contacted by a fraudulent source, please contact police or Canadian AntiFraud Center immediately for further instructions on what you can do.  Canadian Antifraud Centre can be reached directly at 1-888-495-8501, however also report same to the local detachment.

Boissevain Detachment business hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.
