The RM of Sifton is excited to be launching new branding next month, unveiling a fresh logo that captures the essence of their beautiful town and municipality.

"We'll be announcing the new logo fairly soon," says Economic Development Officer, Rachelle Stannage.  "We are looking to refresh and be more modern on our logo, and bring a new face to the RM."

"We have a crest logo that has been part of our municipality for a few years," she explains. "We used to be two separate municipalities. It was the town of Oak Lake and then the RM of Sifton and then we amalgamated in 2015.  So, it is just kind of representing what we're about.  The logo that we had was great, but it needed an upgrading and to bring more attention to the RM.  So, we decided to change."

The new look focuses on four major goals: to stay relevant, to attract new people to the area, to breathe new life into the municipality's perception, and to foster community pride and belonging among their residents.

Stannage says an additional part of their rebranding is a new logo for their swag items, like clothing and signage for their municipal office.  This is the one that's at the top of this page with the swirl of a stalk of rye that swirls up, representing the RM of Sifton as an agricultural community giving a special nod to local farmers who keep their community thriving.

A recent event at the Riverbank Discovery Centre in Brandon inspired Stannage to bring new ideas to her municipal council. Guest speaker, Peter Kenyon, shared on Reinventing Small Towns with his revitalization seminar.

"Peter was talking about how important branding is for our communities and for our municipalities," she explains. "One of the things that he says is that you never get a second chance at a first impression.  And that really stuck with me, so I want people to look at our logos and at our community and see that we are really what we say that we are."

The RM has been sharing their new slogan, 'Welcome Home' with the caption, 'Sifton is the place to call home. Whether you're returning to your roots, starting a family or business or retiring in comfort, Sifton is Home.'

"So, we've been putting out lots of advertising on Facebook with different ideas of what might be home to some people," adds Stannage, "whether you're wanting to live out at our lake, or fish with your family, or if you're into agriculture we have a lot of farm families in our area, and things like that."

The new signage will be installed at the different outdoor locations and inside municipal buildings.  So, stay tuned!
