A semi driver from Ontario has been charged with impaired driving.

Virden RCMP were called out Sunday afternoon around 5pm to a single vehicle accident involving a semi in the town of Elkhorn.

Police say a semi and trailer had attempted to negotiate a tight corner. The trailer had been dragged through the ditch and became stuck, blocking the roadway.

The driver of the semi, a 44 year old man from Ontario, was exhibiting signs of impairment. He was arrested and later provided a breath sample that was above the legal limit.

The driver will appear in Virden Provincial Court on August 26.

There were no injuries as a result of this collision. The truck and trailer have been impounded.
