Canada’s Wheelchair Curling team captured bronze medals at the 2022 Winter Paralympic Games in Beijing. Mark Ideson, Ina Forrest, Jon Thurston and Manitoban Dennis Thiessen defeated Slovakia 8-3. Earlier Canada dropped a 9-5 decision to China in the semifinals. Canada’s Paralympic Hockey Team will play for gold after beating Korea 11-0 in the semifinals. Canadian athletes have won 21 medals in Beijing including seven gold, four silver and 10 bronze.
 


Zach Edmunds scored twice and Hunter arde had a goal and two assists as the Boissevain/Souris Broncos defeated Crocus Plains 4-1 in game one of the Westman High School Hockey League's best-of-five consolation quarterfinal. Landon Nadeau had the lone goal for the Plainsmen.
 


Brody Wlson scored twice and Eric Reid made 34 saves as the Virden Oil Capitals downed the OCN Blizzard 6-3 at Tundra Oil & Gas Place. Braden Fischer, Nathan McInnis, Parker Johnson and Nathan Driver also scored for the Oil Capitals. 
 


Kyle Connor scored his 35th goal of the season and Eric Comrie made 33 saves as the Winnipeg Jets opened their four-game road trip with a 2-1 victory over New Jersey. Brenden Dillon also scored for the Jets who face the N.Y. Islanders tonight.
 


Mike McEwen will meet Jason Gunnlaugson in a tiebreaker at 9:30 a.m. at the Brier in Lethbridge. Both Manitoba teams finished the round robin tied for third place in Pool B with 5-3 records. Olympic bronze medalist Brad Gushue and Kevin Koe of Alberta finished first in their respective pools. Reigning Canadian champion Brendan Bottcher of Edmonton and Brad Jacobs of Northern Ontario also qualified for the playoffs. Colton Flasch of Saskatchewan and Matt Dunstone of Regina will play in the other tiebreaker. Both finished 5-3 in Pool A.
