Zach Collaros claimed his second consecutive Most Outstanding Player Award to lead the Winnipeg Blue Bombers' haul of four trophies at the CFL Awards Thursday night in Regina. Mike O'Shea earned Coach of the Year honours for the second straight year, Stanley Bryant was named the Top Offensive Lineman for a record fourth time and receiver Dalton Schoen took Rookie of the Year honours. BC Lions quarterback Nathan Rourke won the Most Outstanding Canadian Award, Lorenzo Mauldin IV of the Ottawa Redblacks was selected the Defensive Player of the Year and Saskatchewan's Mario Alford was the Special Teams Player of the Year. The Blue Bombers and Toronto Argonauts meet in the 109th Grey Cup Sunday at Mosaic Stadium.


The Winnipeg Ice scored five third period goals en route to a 9-5 victory over the Regina Pats. Matthew Savoie had a hat trick and three assists and Owen Pederson added two goals and two helpers. Zach Benson, Connor Dale, Ty Nash and Connor McClennon also scored for the Ice who have won 19 of 20 games this season. 


Kyle Connor scored all three Winnipeg goals as the Jets shaded the Anaheim Ducks 3-2 at Canada Life Centre. Connor completed his hat trick with 54 seconds remaining in the third period. Winnipeg's Connor Hellebuyck made 29 saves. The Jets (10-4-1), who host the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday, are 8-1-1 in their last 10 games. Teemu Selanne and Teppo Numminen were inducted into the Winnipeg Jets Hall of Fame prior to last night's game against the Ducks.


Canada’s National Women’s Hockey Team dropped game two of the Rivalry Series Thursday night in Kamloops, falling 2-1 to the United States. Marie-Philip Poulin scored Canada's lone goal on a penalty shot with 1:45 left in the second period. Kendall Coyne Schofield and Alex Carpenter did the goal scoring for the Americans. Brandon's Kristen Campbell made her first international start against the United States and finished with 32 saves. Game three in the Rivalry Series goes Sunday in Seattle.
