Westman Magic U13, U15 and U17 teams each played a pair of doubleheaders this past weekend. Magic U13 beat Central Energy 11-10 & 15-8 and also swept the Winnipeg Lightning 14-1 & 16-3. Magic U15 beat Smitty's Terminators 11-7 & 17-10. Westman split its doubleheader with Eastman. The Magic won the opener 13-6 and lost the second game 10-9. Magic U17 swept the Manitoba Angels 9-4 & 8-6 and split their twinbill with Smitty's. Westman lost the opener 20-13 and won the second game 5-4. The Westman Magic have a 4-0 record in the Manitoba Premier Softball League's U13 Division; a 3-1 record in the U15 Division and a 3-1 record in the U17 Division. 


The Winnipeg Goldeyes dropped a 6-2 decision to the Milwaukee Milkmen. The Fish will wrap up their exhibition schedule with two more games against the Milkmen tonight and Tuesday in Franklin, Wisconsin. The Goldeyes will open the 2023 American Association season against the SouthShore RailCats in Gary on May 11th.


The Winnipeg Blue Bombers announced the signing of five 2023 Draft selections: defensive lineman Anthony Bennett (8th overall), defensive back Jake Kelly (15th overall), receiver Jeremy Murphy (26th overall), defensive back Bret MacDougall (53rd overall) and linebacker Max Charbonneau (71st overall). The Blue Bombers begin training camp May 14th at IG Field. 


Kerri Einarson, Val Sweeting, Shannon Birchard and Dawn McEwen lost 6-5 in an extra end to Rachel Homan in the women’s final of the Grand Slam of Curling’s Champions Cup in Regina. Brendan Bottcher beat Brad Gushue 5-3 in the men’s final. Einarson reached the final in five of the six grand slam events this season. 


Stony Mountain's Aaron Cockerill finished in a tie for 16th at the DP World Tour's Italian Open. Cockerill fired a final round one-over par 72 and was nine shots back of Adrian Meronk. Cockerill moved from 24th to 23rd in the DP World Tour's Race to Dubai Rankings.
