Deloraine girls face Grandview and Wawanesa boys meet Baldur/Cartwright in the quarterfinals at the Provincial A High School Varsity Volleyball Championships in Fisher River. The Boissevain Broncos went 0-4 in the round robin and failed to qualify for the playoffs at the AA boys championship in Ile des Chenes. Neelin girls will take on Sanford and Neelin boys will face Niverville in the quarterfinals at the Provincial AAA championships in Dauphin.


In the Westman High School Hockey League – Eli Betcher scored twice and Brady Burghart had four helpers as Swan Valley shaded Birtle/Shoal Lake/Rossburn 5-4. Zachary Lamb and Jaden Trotz scored four goals each in the Minnedosa/Erickson Chancellors 13-3 victory over Reston/Elkhorn/Melita/Hartney 13-3.


Roux Bazin scored his second goal of the game 2:43 into overtime to lift the Virden Oil Capitals past the Winkler Flyers 5-4 at Tundra Oil & Gas Place. Luke MacKenzie, Bryce Bryant and Josh Lehto with his 15th goal of the season also scored for the Caps.


The Melita Bisons, Killarney Shamrocks, Deloraine Royals and MacGregor Wild were winners in the Tiger Hills Hockey League. Garrett Sambrook had a goal and an assist as the Bisons edged the Boissevain Border Kings 3-2; Brian Archibald made 21 saves as the Shamrocks blanked the Carberry Plainsmen 11-0; The Royals scored four first period goals en route to a 5-2 victory over the Wawanesa Jets and Braden Nicoll and Preston McLeod scored two goals each as the Wild downed the Pilot Mound Pilots 8-6.


Brett Hyland had a hat trick and Rylan Roersma had two goals and an assist as the Brandon Wheat Kings opened their eight-game homestand with a 7-1 victory over the Regina Pats. Roger McQueen and Matteo Michels also scored for the Wheat Kings. Carson Bjarnason made 32 saves in net for Brandon.


Jeff Malott and Dominic Toninato each had a goal and an assist as the Manitoba Moose doubled up on the Rockford IceHogs 4-2.
