The Boissevain Centennials, Rivers Comets and Oak River Dodgers were winners in the South West Baseball League Friday night. Ben Cairns drove in three runs as the Centennials downed the Wawanesa Brewers 10-1. Layton Veitch stroked a walk-off single in the bottom of the eighth to lift the Comets past the Deloraine Royals 10-9. The Dodgers beat Reston 8-5. Branden Ripley had a two-run homer for the Rockets.


The Winnipeg Goldeyes losing streak has reached four games. The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks plated three runs in the top of the third inning en route to a 4-1 victory oer the Fish. Dayson Croes had two hits and drove in the lone Winnipeg run.


The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are 0-3 to start a season for the first time since 2012. Alexander Hollins caught seven passes for 215 yards and two touchdowns as the B.C. Lions defeated Winnipeg 26-24. Quarterback Chris Streveler had three one-yard touchdown runs for the Blue Bombers. The Lions had 500 yards of net offense.


The Brandon Wheat Kings have officially submitted their intent to bid for the 2026 Memorial Cup with plans to host the event in May of 2026 at Westoba Place at the Keystone Centre. Brandon last hosted the Memorial Cup in 2010. The 2024 Memorial Cup was held in Saginaw, Michigan and was won by the host Spirit.
