The Boissevain Border Kings, Deloraine Royals, Minnedosa Bombers, Virden Oil Kings and Gladstone Lakers were winners in the Tiger Hills Hockey League Saturday night. Jackson Stephens scored twice, Tyler Dittmer had four assists and Jay Pringle made 14 saves as the Border Kings blanked the Souris Elks 8-0. Cole Olson scored the go-ahead goal shorthanded at 7:44 of the third period to lift the Royals past the Neepawa Farmers 3-2. Shane Jury had a goal and three assists as the Bombers beat the Killarney Shamrocks 5-4. Ty Lewis had three assists in the Oil Kings 4-2 victory over the Carberry Plainsmen. Jesse Toth had a goal and four assists as the Lakers downed the Pilot Mound Pilots 7-4.


Westman High School Hockey League – Sully Fox scored twice in the Dauphin Clippers 5-2 victory over the Minnedosa/Erickson Chancellors. Jordan Svoboda made 33 saves as the Killarney/Wawanesa Raiders downed Birtle/Shoal Lake/Rossburn 4-1.


The Southwest Cougars picked up win number 10 Saturday in Souris. Jack Clark and Regan Anderson scored in the shootout as Southwest held on for a 4-3 victory over the Yellowhead Chiefs in Souris. Jackson Hofer had a pair of goals in regulation for the Cougars who led 2-0 and 3-0 at the period breaks.


The Westman Wildcats dropped a 5-3 decision to the Manitoba Female U18 AAA Hockey League leading Yellowhead Chiefs in Shoal Lake, Hallie Frankin, Reese Schutte and Marlie Rutherford did the goal scoring for the Wildcats.


The Virden Oil Capitals rallied from a 2-0 deficit and beat the OCN Blizzard 3-2. Nolan Chastko scored a shorthanded marker with 3:51 left in the third period and then potted a power play goal with 48 seconds remaining to force overtime. After a scoreless five-minute extra period, Chastko and Josh Letho won it for the Oil Capitals as both scored in the shootout. 


Carson Bjarnason made 28 saves and Roger McQueen scored his 10th goal of the season in the Brandon Wheat Kings 2-1 victory over the Saskatoon Blades at Westoba Place. Quinn Mantei also scored for the Wheat Kings.


The Winnipeg Jets three-game win streak came to an end Saturday night in Montreal. Nick Suzuki scored the only goal of the shootout and Jake Allen made 42 saves as the Canadiens defeated Winnipeg 4-3. Adam Lowry scored twice for the Jets. His first came on a penalty shot 4:28 into the opening period. Nino Niedereitter also scored for Winnipeg. Laurent Brossoit stopped 26 shots.


Ashton Sautner scored his second goal of the game with 46 seconds left in overtime to lift the Manitoba Moose past the Texas Stars 6-5. Brad Lambert, Danny Zhilkin, Jeff Malott and Axel Jonsson-Fjallby also scored for the Moose. Nikita Chibrikov chipped in with three assists.


Canadian boxers Tammara Thibeault and Wyatt Sanford captured gold medals at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile. Canadian athletes have won 87 medals including 32 gold, 25 silver and 30 bronze.
