Regan Anderson tripled, doubled and drove in a pair of runs as the Souris Sabres edged the Neelin Spartans 3-2 in the Prairie West High School Baseball League's 3rd place game. Nate McGean got the win for the Sabres. He went all seven innings and allowed five hits and struck out seven. Crocus Plains will meet Ste. Rose today at Sumner Field in Brandon in the 8th place game. 


The 2023 Manitoba Junior Hockey League Draft takes place Sunday. The Virden Oil Capitals selected defenseman Hudson Davidson and forward Tyson Draper with their two Auto-Protect picks. Davidson had two goals and four assists in 43 games with the Manitoba U18 AAA Hockey League's Yellowhead Chiefs. Draper had 25 goals and 33 assists with the Westman Ice Bandits U17 AAA team. The Oil Capitals have the eighth overall pick in round one of the draft. The Winnipeg Freeze have the first selection. 


The Winnipeg Blue Bombers added defensive end Celestin Haba, receiver Tavaris Harrison and defensive back Karon Delince the roster. Receiver Tre Turner was released. Offensive lineman Tui Eli was transferred to the one-game injured list and fullback Konner Burtenshaw was placed on the six-game injured list. The Blue Bombers practice session today is from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. Winnipeg will play it's final pre-season game Friday against the Saskatchewan Roughriders at IG Field. 


The Winnipeg Goldeyes gave up four runs in the second inning and six more in the eighth and lost 14-8 to the Chicago Dogs. Max Murphy had a pair of home runs for the Fish. Winnipeg third baseman Dayson Croes doubled in the top of the sixth inning and extended his hitting streak to 13 games.
