It's that time of year again, to get the International Peace Garden in shape for the summer visitors.

CEO Garry Enns points out the snow is gone and workers are busy cleaning the garden and getting the beds ready for thousands of flowers to be planted over the next couple of months. He says they're currently well on their way in terms of starting things in their greenhouses, so the plants will be ready to put in the ground once it's ready for them. Enns joined the Peace Garden one month ago and he says it has been a busy four weeks but he likes what he sees at the garden.

Enns says the garden is also taking steps to deal with the discrepancy between the Canadian and U-S dollar.

"One of the things we're struggling with in our plans for season is the exchange rate that we've got. So there will be a few changes in how we price things to reflect that."

The popular tourist spot south of Boissevain will kick off the summer season with its Mother's Day buffet next month.

"Mother's Day is obviously an important date for us. That's when we really feel like we're getting the season going. We're looking forward to a good turn out for our Mother's Day brunch and it's going to be a German buffet."
