Every year students at Boissevain School do a community food drive and one of those drives will take place today (Tuesday, May 2nd).

Between 5:00 and 7:00 pm students will be going door to door asking for non-perishable food items.

The student government and members of the high school baseball team will be doing the canvassing.

"We do a food drive in October and one in May and all the food collected goes to the Boissevain Food Pantry,” said Grace Glover a Grade 12 student and member of the student government.

“We’re looking for food items that will last so anything like canned foods or boxed food would be ideal. People can either leave a bag on their door or front step and we’ll collect it otherwise we’ll knock on their door and ask if they’d like to donate,” said Glover.

Students have carried out the food drive for a number of years as part of their way of giving back to the community.

“We’ll have bout 25 students hitting the streets today and we hope to get strong support from the community.”
