It appears more people made a point of getting out this past summer.

Slowly but surely more people are starting to get out to see the local sights and sounds.

Lanny Stewart is Manager of Brandon Tourism and in talking with his members things were better in 2021 than in 2020.

COVID has presented many challenges.

“Vaccination numbers are rising and we’ve noticed a significant change. Obviously there have been some events take place in the city over the past few months and our hotels are starting to get more people to stay. Overall there seems to be a more positive mood compared to last year.”

It has been tough on many businesses but Stewart says as vaccine numbers increase they are starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel.

The United States has announced Canadians will be able to cross over land at border sites starting November 8. Lanny Stewart see it as a positive move for people on both sides of the border.

“I think it will be a good two way movement of people and that only benefit Brandon. I’ve been waiting to see what will happen. Now with two way movement I think it will only benefit the city.”
