The U.S Weather Service has confirmed what Manitoba flood forcasters already know, the potential for significant flooding in the Red River Valley is very high.  The U.S National Weather Service says there's a 20 per cent chance we could see a flood similar in size to the flood of 2009 and a 50 per cent chance it will beat last year's crest, which was the 6th highest on record.

Steve Topping, Manitoba Water Stewardship's executive director, says the snowpack in the Fargo area, and south of that city is high.  He says the potential for flooding in the Assiniboine River basin is also very high, with a heavy snowpack in Saskatchewan.

Manitoba will issue its first flood outlook of the year on Monday.
