Brandon Police see recovery of stolen truck from Souris

Stolen Vehicle Recovered – One Male Charged On October 20, 2025, at approximately 1:05 a.m., a police officer observed a male seated in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. Upon noticing police, the male exited the vehicle and entered a nearby residence. A records check on the 2007 truck confirmed it had been reported stolen from the Souris area approximately one week ago. After extensive knocking by officers, the male eventually exited the residence while in possession of the keys to the stolen vehicle. He was taken into custody without incident. The vehicle was towed to BPS for forensic examination. The male was later released on an Undertaking, with a court date of January 5th, 2026. Mischief Under $5000 / Failure to Comply Undertaking On October 3, 2025, two suspects entered the yard of a residence on Driftwood Crescent and threw rocks at the home, causing significant property damage. The rocks broke glass in the front door and a bay window, with the damage estimated at approximately $2,500. Video surveillance footage identified the suspects as two 13-year-old female youths. One of the individuals was found to be in violation of a No Contact condition from a previous Undertaking. Both youths have been charged with Mischief Under $5,000. The youth with the prior Undertaking condition also faces an additional charge of Failure to Comply with an Undertaking. A court date has been scheduled for December 9, 2025. Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm On October 20, 2025, at approximately 3:07 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop in the 1600 block of Lorne Avenue. During the stop, officers located a high-powered rifle positioned between the front seats of the vehicle. The two occupants stated the firearm was for hunting purposes; however, neither individual possessed a valid firearms license. The rifle was seized by police. Further checks revealed that the driver, a 38-year-old male, was operating the vehicle while his driver’s license was suspended. As a result, the vehicle was seized and impounded. Both the 38-year-old male and a 60-year-old female passenger were charged with Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm. They were released on Undertakings, with a court date scheduled for January 12, 2026. Trespasser Breaching Probation Order: Just before 11:00 AM Friday, [October 17th] an employee from Superstore reported a female in the store that they knew was on Court ordered conditions to not attend there. The officers located the female inside the store upon arrival and the 22 year-old female suspect was arrested for breaching her Probation Order that prohibited her from attending the store. She was also wanted for a theft from the store from an incident in September. As a result, she was held in custody to appear today before the Court. Shoplifters: Just before noon Friday, [October 17th] two female suspects were reported for stealing merchandise from the Victoria Avenue Dollarama. The two suspects, aged 36 years and 32 years, were apprehended a few blocks away and approximately $130 in stolen merchandise was recovered. Both were later released, on appropriate Police imposed conditions, to appear in Court on January 5th. Failing to Provide Necessities of Life: As a result of an investigation initiated on Thursday evening, [October 16th] during which a 2 year-old child was found in a medically unstable condition, a 27 year-old male was charged with failing to provide the necessities of life. The child was transported to hospital and was taken into care by Child & Family Services. On Friday afternoon, the accused was released on Police imposed conditions, to appear in Court on December 22nd.
