The Killarney-Turtle Mountain Arts Council has been busy this month celebrating women in conjunction with International Women’s Month.

Activities include an exhibit at the Heritage Arts Centre.

Administrator Jane Ireland said they decided to do more than just celebrate International Women's Day and make it a month-long event.

“We have an amazing exhibition here by Richelle Treloar that focuses on women from all walks of life.”

The Arts Council has also lined up a Celebration of Women night for March 25th.

“It’ll take place at Oak & Owl Cafe and we’ll be highlighting women owned and run businesses in Killarney. We’re going to be doing and we’ll be doing a lot of fun things that night.”

The program includes the presentation of the first annual Woman of Distinction Award. This award recognizes the contributions, passion, commitment and leadership of the incredibly amazing women who work to keep Killarney strong and vibrant.

This year’s recipient is Gwen Tripp owner of Gwen’s Trends.
