Turtle Mountain School Board Chair Garth Nichol likes the Province's plans to modernize Manitoba's education system.

The province wants to keep students in school until they are 18 years old. Penalties presently exist for kids under 16 who are not in school.

Nichol says some proposals may be tough to enforce. He also says parents need to play an active role in their child's education.

He feels the Province is heading in the right direction.
