Some upgrade work will take place along portions of main street in Boissevain.

Head of Council Judy Swanson says the Municipality of Boissevain-Morton has work taking place in town and out in the rural areas. “This spring our crews have been busy fixing roads damaged by flood waters. We had 100 spots that needed repairs and while some were minor others we not as simple to fix.”

Swanson adds most of that repair work has been completed. In town the swimming pool is the major project, but Swanson notes they do have some other work taking place this summer.

“We also want to do more sidewalk improvements along main street. We’re going to continue with improvements. Last year we did some work in front of the library so we’re going to try this year to stay on main street and get it done right and when it’s completed move outwards.”

Work along main street will see sidewalk bricks that are now uneven, and a trip hazard leveled out. “They’ll be pulled out, repacked underneath and put back down. We want to stay with the cobblestone effect instead of putting down cement.”
