Boissevain residents will soon be able to participate in a wood chipping program.

The town of Boissevain has agreed to work with the Boissevain-Morton Foundation on a program to keep shrubs and branches out of the local landfill while at the same time provide homeowners woodchips for their yards.

Merle Neufeld is a member of the foundation board. He says the project is something the board has been working on since early 2012.

The foundation has committed $2,500 to the project on a 1-2 year trial basis. Neufeld says Christmas trees will also be part of the chipping program. The town plans to establish a spot where the tree chips will be stored and people can go to bag them to take back home.
