The Canadian Wheat Board is offering programs to help farmers deliver wheat with fusarium levels above Canadian Grain Commission tolerances.

"We're offering these programs to provide farmers the ability to receive a higher value for their grain which without this program they would not be able to receive," says Mark Thibeault, senior manager of supply optimization. "We will control the blending of this product at the port and we will make sure we still meet the strict tolerances of the Canadian Grain Commission so that customers still receive the high quality grain that they expect."

He says the amount that will be accepted depends on the amount of higher quality wheat available for blending.

Farmers can deliver Number 2 CWRS wheat with a maximum of 1.8 percent fusarium. For Numbers 3 and 4 CWRS and for winter wheat, the maximum fusarium content is three percent.
