A credit union in Western Manitoba wants to hand out some money.

Westoba Inspire, Westoba Credit Unions' community investment program is accepting applications during the month of September 2022 for major community infrastructure projects up to $10,000.00.

The Westoba Inspire program offers funding for a variety of projects that meet a wide range of ages and demographics.

Jim Rediger, President and CEO at Westoba credits Westoba members for this opportunity. “The Inspire program is the result of priorities identified by our members. The program offers an opportunity for our members to tell us what's important to them and for Westoba to support those projects.”

Applicants must be a non-profit, charitable or community organization or have a charitable fiscal agent to act on their behalf. Those applications are reviewed by Westoba’s Community Investment Committee which includes staff, members and Board representation.

Applications will be accepted through an online application form available September 1st - 30th at www.westobainspire.com.

“This program started in 2017 and over the years we’ve handed out more than $180,000 to community projects in areas we serve. We’ve helped fund a splash park in The Pas, community kitchens in Rivers and Brandon. We just did a sun shade for the ball diamond in Cartwright and funded new hardware for a youth computer program in Glenboro” said Reidger.

To be eligible for funding, applicants must be a non-profit charitable organization, support community infrastructure projects that are initiated locally or have a clear local impact; are inclusive and bring people together; are long-term or multi-functional; and promote staying, participating and engaging in an enriched community.

Centralized in Brandon Westoba has 14 locations throughout the province, employing over 200 people.
