Monday, May 20th Report:

Break Enter and Theft

At approx. 3 PM Sunday, police were called to the 800 block of Rosser for a business break in. A male suspect was recorded on video surveillance kicking in a door and once inside stealing a hockey stick. Officers were able to identify the suspect from the video and a short time later they located the 17-year-old suspect on 7th St.  The stolen hockey stick was recovered, and the arrested male has been released with a court date of July 25th.

Break and Enter

At approx. 1 PM Sunday, officers were called to a break and enter in the 000 block of 5th St.  A male suspect was recorded on surveillance gaining entry to a business through a window.  The suspect left the property prior to stealing anything.  The matter in still under investigation.

Arrest Warrant Executed – Forcible Confinement, Aggravated Assault et al

At approx. 2:30 Sunday morning, police were called to a disturbance in the 3100 block of McDonald Ave. Upon arrival they located an intoxicated male who was responsible for the disturbance.  The male initially provided a false name to the officers in attendance. Once his identity was confirmed he was found to be the subject of an outstanding warrant of arrest held by the Portage La Prairie RCMP.  The charges from the warrant include assault with a weapon, forcible confinement, uttering threats, overcoming resistance, and aggravated assault.  The 26-year-old of Portage La Prairie was arrested on the strength of the warrant. He was also charged with public mischief for providing a false name and failing to comply with his release order for the consumption of alcohol.  He will be held for court later today.

 

Sunday, May 19th Report:

Attempted Break and Enter

At approx. 10:15 AM Saturday, police were called to the 300 block of 2nd St for what appeared to be a male breaking into a residence. Upon arrival officers located a 45-year-old male in the process of removing boards that had been used to secure the premises. The male was arrested for attempted break and enter.  He will be held for court later today.

Mischief to Property

On April 4 of this year, three suspects damaged a washroom at the Keystone Centre.  On Saturday, the third of the suspects responsible for the damage attended to the Brandon Police Service to turn himself in.  The 14-year-old male was arrested for mischief and has since been released with a court date of July 23.

Possess Meth for the Purpose of Trafficking / Fail to Comply with Undertaking

At approx. 5 PM Saturday, officers were called to an address on Cornell Bay, for a male in the residence who was currently on an order not to attend there. Officers attended and located the 37-year-old male and arrested him for failing to comply with an Undertaking.  During a search incident to arrest the officers located a quantity of meth in his possession.  The meth was packaged and possessed in a manner consistent with how someone selling it would have it. The male was arrested for possession of meth for the purpose of trafficking.  He was held at the Brandon Police Service and will appear in court later today.

Arrest Warrant Executed

At approx. 7:25 PM Saturday officers attended a disturbance call in the 300 block of Dennis St.  Upon arrival the problem had resolved itself, however officers located a 17-year-old female who was found to be the subject of an outstanding warrant of arrest. The youth was wanted for mischief to property under $5000.  She was arrested on the strength of the warrant and has since been released with a court date of July 9.

 

Saturday, May 18th Report:

Mischief to Property

At 9:25 am, a call was received wanting a female removed from a property in the 1700 block of Middleton Ave. While on the phone with Police, the female broke a window. The 39-year-old female was arrested and later released on an appearance notice.

Uttering Threats

At 2:34 pm, Police were called to Meadow Lark Campground for a disturbance. As a result of this occurrence, a 53-year-old male was charged with uttering threats. The accused was arrested and released for court at a later date.

Resisting Arrest 

At 7:21 am, Police were called to assist in removing a male and female from a property in the 700 block of 12th St. The 35-year-old subject had an outstanding warrant for breach of probation and when Police attempted to arrest him, he resisted. He was charged with resisting arrest and was held for court. The 32-year-old female was also arrested as she was breaching her curfew on her release order and also was in possession of stolen property. She was also arrested and held for court.

Mischief to Property 

At 2:16 am, Police were called to the 900 block of Middleton Ave for a male who was intoxicated and causing a disturbance. Upon Police arresting the 39 year old male, he became aggressive and broke a window of the Police cruiser. He was charged with mischief and was released on an undertaking once sober.
