New Democrat Agriculture Critic Alex Atamanenko has tabled a private member's bill which would prevent MPs from using public money in Canadian Wheat Board elections.

He says Tory MPs have used taxpayer cash to promote certain candidates in previous board elections.

Earlier in the week, Winnipeg Centre NDP MP Pat Martin also tabled a private members bill relating to the CWB. Martin says his Bill would enhance the powers of the board of directors of the Wheat Board. It would change the way the board of directors is chosen and selected, and it would reduce the number of directors appointed by the government.
