Whitewater Lake June 1st

Landowners around Whitewater Lake, along Medora Creek and from the entire region held a meeting recently with Manitoba Water Stewardship to discuss solutions to lowering the lake's level.
The group wants a control device installed to lower the level and would like that water to go out Medora Creek, However those along the creek say they have enough water.
Manitoba Water Stewardship Executive Director Steve Topping says an outlet is not a silver bullet solution.

Topping adds about 18,000 acres of land around the lake was flooded in June and is presently around 15,000 acres as the water has dropped about a foot.
He notes this is a continuous flooding problem and looks forward to working with the Turtle Mountain Conservation District in finding a solution.
