YWCA's Women of Distinction Awards Gala is returning to the Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium (WMCA) in Brandon for their March event!

"We're especially excited to recognize women who are making a difference in Westman's communities, so I'm quite excited to be able to be a part of it somehow," says Organizing Committee and Board member, Jessica Saler.  "They've asked me to help get this event going again. Especially after the pandemic, people are excited to be back to events."

Nominations are still open for those wanting to formally recognize those women in their communities who are making a significant difference.

"You can nominate a woman in Westman who should be recognized for their contributions to their community," shares Saler, "and anyone can make a nomination. We still have about a month of nominations to come in, so please visit our website.  If you go there, you can see all the different awards and eligibility criteria and then you can nominate a woman in Westman who you think should be recognized for something that they've done."

International Women's Day is March 8th this year.  Saler notes this year's YWCA Women of Distinction Awards Gala is the day after, on Thursday, March 9th.

The Gala is the Westman YWCA's largest fundraising event in the year, but it also brings greater awareness to the outreach and programs the YWCA offers to the Westman community and to vulnerable women and children.
