Residents in the Waskada and Coulter region are planning a bus trip to Winnipeg.

The purpose is to lobby the province to fix the damaged bridge along Highway 251. Flood waters from the Souris River forced the closure of the bridge this summer.

Shirley Kernaghan lives near the bridge and says they've been working through MLA Larry Maguire to get the bridge repaired.

Kernaghan says they are trying to fill the bus with more than 50 people to head into Winnipeg on Monday.

The government has indicated it could be 2 years before the bridge is repaired.
