The Rotary Club of Brandon is now collecting books for its next sale at the end of March.

Before the pandemic the club held two sales every year but club member Marty Snelling says over the past two years they’ve only held one sale and that was this past September in Brandon.

“This will be our second sale since covid hit. We have it the last week of March because that’s when the Winter Fair is on and a lot of rural people come to Brandon for the fair and they like to come to the book sale. We promote it in the rural area as much as possible and we also support projects outside of Brandon in the rural region.”

The Rotary Club is looking for pocket books, hard covered novels, books by categories such as history, cooking, gardening and religion. “We don’t take text books, Reader’s Digest and we don’t take magazines.”

The sale at the end of March will depend on public health orders but Marty Snelling says they’re ready to go ahead with their next sale.

“We’ll require everyone to wear a mask and at the last book sale we checked everyone and we only alone people in if they’ve been vaccinated. We only had to turn away a few people because of that. A majority of people have been double vaccinated.”

There are five drop off locations in Brandon and they are:

1. Home Hardware 18th Street

2. Heritage Co-op Richmond Avenue

3. Superstore (9th & Victoria)

4. Sobey’s West End (34th & Victoria)

Heritage Gas Bar 18th Street North

The Rotary Club Book sale is set for March 31st, April 1st and 2nd at the Victoria Inn.
