The Municipality of Souris-Glenwood has partnered with their local Chamber of Commerce to host a 'Foreign Worker Recruitment' information night this coming Monday.

This special information event, 'Souris Supports Ukraine' is open to everyone who wants to learn more on how to support or sponsor Ukrainian families to settle in their area.

"We're looking to see if we can get some interest in the community to perhaps get a few Ukrainian families here, to help offset some of the labor shortages," shares Souris Mayor, Duane Davison. "Certainly, anecdotally, everyone is looking for help and can't get it. So, we're just trying to gauge the interest."

Past Killarney Mayor, Rick Pauls, has been very instrumental in welcoming Ukrainian families into their municipality.  "He's brought several families into Killarney and he knows the process, and he's involved with the group that takes care of this across the country as many Ukrainians are looking for a place to move to."

"He's going to come and talk about his experience and to outline the process," adds Davison. "So, from our perspective, we're hoping to spur some interest for folks to come here, sit down and learn about it. Then perhaps we can gauge the interest, strike up a committee and go forward."

The Souris Supports Ukraine event will take place Monday, April 24th, upstairs at the Souris Memorial Complex, at 7 pm.  The info meeting is open to every one (both inside and outside of the Souris area) who would like to learn more on supporting or sponsoring a family from Ukraine.
