Planning is expected to ramp up early in 2023 for a new splash park in Souris.

The Chamber is organizing a community meeting on January 25th in hopes that a community group will come together to start investigating the possibility of a Splash Park for Souris.

EDO Echo Finlay plans to be part of that committee. “So, we did the Souris Vision 2031 survey, and the splash park came up as something that was highly desired. Now the chamber of commerce identified through a survey of its members that the splash park should be a priority.”

“For the next year we are looking at that as a project and our first meeting will take place in January. We want to get the ball rolling.

Organizers don’t know if it will be a five-year project or one that can be completed much quicker.

“We’re in the preplanning stage and we still have to decide things like a budget and location. Where’s the best place to build it because there are two lines of thought. One is to construct the splash park in Victoria Park near the pool and the other thought is to put it where we don’t already have a designated play space for residents, said Finlay.

The Souris-Glenwood Chamber of Commerce is spear heading the project, but it will become a community partnership project. “The chamber is behind it right now and they’re really doing great things.”

“A splash park would be fantastic for Souris. We already draw so much attention and this gets even more families coming to town to enjoy what we have here in the community. I think it’s a great idea.”
