The Boissevain Broncos shutout Steinbach Regional 9-0 in the final of the Miller Aces High School Baseball Tournament Saturday in Altona. The Broncos blanked the Morden Thunder 3-0 while the Sabres outscored Northlands Parkway 15-10 in the semifinals. 


The Winnipeg Goldeyes are 0-4 to start the 2024 American Association season. Carter Aldrete drilled a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth inning as the Cleburne Railers blanked Winnipeg 1-0. Goldeyes starter Landen Bourassa went six innings and allowed just three hits, one earned run and struck out 11 Railroaders. The Fish stranded eight base runners. 


The Winkler Flyers face the host Oakville Blades tonight (6:30 p.m.) at the 2024 Centennial Cup. The Manitoba Junior Hockey League champions will move into first place in Group B with a regulation win and clinch a playoff spot. The Flyers won their preliminary round opener 4-2 over the Sioux Lookout Bombers and lost 6-5 in a shootout to the Melfort Mustangs. The Miramichi Timberwolves lead Group B with six points; the Mustangs have five; the Flyers have four; the Blades have three points, and the Bombers are 0-3 and have been eliminated from playoff contention. Winkler will play its final round robin game Tuesday against the Timberwolves. 


Connor Bedard had two goals and an assist as Canada defeated Denmark 5-1 at the 2024 World Men's Hockey Championship in Prague. Pierre-Luc Dubois, Dylan Cozens and Dawson Mercer also scored for the Canadians who have a 2-0 preliminary round record. Jordan Binnington made 19 saves. Canada's next game is Tuesday against Austria. 


It's day two of Winnipeg Blue Bombers main camp. The football club released American defensive linemen Ali Fayad, Jordan Lewis & David Green; American offensive lineman Kendall Randolph; American receivers Bryce Mitchell & Keytaon Thompson; American kicker Jose Borregales and Canadian defensive lineman Anthony Bennett. Transferred to the suspended list were American defensive backs James Campbell & Montrae Braswell; American receiver Braxton Burmeister and American defensive lineman Kenny Randall. The Blue Bombers first pre-season game is Monday, May 20th in Regina against the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
