Brandon-Souris MP Merv Tweed says he hasn't heard much response to Canada's decision to keep troops in Afghanistan until 2014.

Canada was going to pull out next year. However Tweed says numerous requests from the U-N and other countries prompted Canada to stay, but in a different role.

Tweed says Canadian troops will have a new mandate starting next year.

Tweed says while there's always danger Canada's role in rebuilding and training shouldn't put soldiers at as much risk.
