Swimming lesson registration opened this week for Boissevain-Morton and the response has been fantastic, keeping the phones busy at the municipal building!

Director of Parks and Recreation, Wendy Giesbrecht, is excited to offer programs for the new aquatic centre, and she's thrilled with all the families calling in to register their children for swimming lessons.

"it's been pretty wild! They're booking fast and the phone just keeps ringing! Everybody is excited, it's just great!"

May 1st was the official kick-off for registration, specifically for Boissevain-Morton residents.  Today, Friday, it opened up to non-residents to register their children for lessons.

"We've got two instructors on our docket this year," she explains. "We would like to have three, so it's a bit of a challenge booking all the kids in where they want to go in the scheduling. But there is still something for everyone, there's just a little bit of juggling involved."

The new aquatic centre was expected to open last summer, but due to unforeseen challenges the date got pushed further and further into the fall season, missing the summer swim by only a handful of weeks.

"It's the first year in the new pool so what do you say, it's a whole new experience that this community has never seen!" she says. "We're all in it together for the first time so we've got tons of fun to look forward to and we've got some different programming coming!"

"And we've got a great staff this year for both the campground and the aquatic centre," she adds. "And with that new programming I think we're going to see it skyrocketing with interest!"

New programming includes aqua-fit and new sporting classes. "So, you'll have to stay tuned to find out more about that!" adds Giesbrecht.
