Chelsea Carey of Morden and William Lyburn of the Deer Lodge Curling Club in Winnipeg captured the Manitoba Curling Tour Championships on Sunday in Morris.

Carey beat Kim Link of East St. Paul 6-4 in the women's final. It's the second time in the last three years that Carey has won the MCT Championship. The Morden skip along with third Kristy Jenion, second Kristin Foster and lead Lindsay Titheridge had a 2-1 round robin record and then downed reigning Manitoba Women's champion Jill Thurston 7-4 in the quarterfinals and Cathy Overton-Clapham 7-5 in the semifinals. Carey & company took home $2,350.

CJRB Sports Director Clayton Dreger asked Chelsea Carey how it felt to win her second MCT Championship in the past three years.

Lyburn won the men's final and a cheque for $5,000 beating Rob Fowler of Brandon 6-5. Lyburn, along with third James Kirkness, second Alex Forrest and lead Greg Melnichuk downed Scott Bitz of Regina 8-4 in the quarterfinals and then beat David Bohn 5-4 in the semifinals.

William Lyburn talked about the MCT Championship and how it felt to win the final.

Fowler, who is vacationing in Hawaii, earned a berth in the 2011 Safeway Championship in Beausejour by reaching the final of the MCT Championship. Allan Lyburn took over the skipping duties this past weekend. Richard Daneault moved up to third while Derek Samagalski played second and Ross Granger stepped in and played lead.

Allan Lyburn was asked how he felt about the teams chance of qualifying for the 2011 Provincial Men's Curling Championship without their skip Rob Fowler playing this past weekend in Morris.
