A member of the Manitoba R.C.M.P. has been charged with Assault and Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purposes. The 32 year old male Constable stationed in the West District is a regular member of the R.C.M.P. and has two and a half years of service.

On December 4 at about 9:30 am the R.C.M.P. Operational Communication Centre was called and advised of a domestic dispute that took place in the afternoon the day before involving the Constable who was off duty at the time. The Detachment Commander was contacted and brought in to investigate, the results of that investigation led to the arrest of the Constable who was later released on a Promise to Appear in Court with conditions.

The officer has been removed from operational duties and his status is being reviewed. He is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court in January 2011. His name and where he is specifically stationed will not be released to protect the identity of the victim.
