Co-host Boissevain defeated Portage 9-3 in the gold medal game of Baseball Manitoba's Provincial 18U AA Championship. Boissevain downed Altona 9-6 in the semifinals. Co-host Reston went 1-2 in the round robin. Oildome finished with a 1-5 record at the 13U AAA qualifier in Stonewall and will play in the Tier Two Provincial Championship next month in Winnipeg. Oildome had a 0-4 record at the 15U AAA qualifier in Ile des Chenes and will play in the Tier Two Provincial Championship which will also take place next month in Winnipeg.


The Wawanesa Brewers defeated the Deloraine Royals 8-7 in 13 innings. Riley Rutherford got the win for the Brewers who evened their best-of-five semifinal at a game apiece. The defending South West Baseball League champion Boissevain Centennials host the Hamiota Red Sox tonight. That series is tied at one. 


The Morden Mud Hens are into round two of the Border Baseball League playoffs. Trailing 6-2, the Mud Hens plated 14 runs in the top of the seventh inning and defeated the Cardinals 16-6 in Carman. Morden swept the best-of three East Division semifinal in two straight. The Atona Bisons staved off elimination. The Bisons shaded the Winkler Whips 2-1 at Access Field and evened that series at a game apiece. The Pilot Mound Pilots forced a deciding third game in their West semifinal with Clearwater. The Pilots rallied for three runs in the top of the seventh and beat Clearwater 3-1.


The Elmwood Giants meet the St. Boniface Legionaires tonight at Koskie Field in game one of the Manitoba Junior Baseball League's best-of-five final. The Giants outscored the Altona Bisons 10-8 Friday in the fifth and deciding game of their semifinal. The Legionaires held on for a 6-5 win over the Carillon Sultans Sunday afternoon in Steinbach in game five of their series. St. Boniface led 6-0 Friday night when their game was suspended in the top of the fourth inning due to lightning and a severe thunderstorm warning. The Sultans scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth yesterday but were shutout by the Legionaires the rest of the way.


Joey Matulovich allowed just two hits, struck out seven and did not walk a batter in eight innings of work as the Winnipeg Goldeyes blanked the Milwaukee Milkmen 5-0 at Franklin Field. Keith Torres homered for the Fish who have the day off. The Goldeyes will open a three-game series against the Sioux City Explorers Tuesday at Shaw Park. 


It's day one of the Canadian Junior Girls Golf Championship in Hampton, New Brunswick. Eight Manitobans are in the field of 130 and they include Cala Korman of Killarney, Payton Oakden of Brandon, Keira Krahn & India Young of Carman, Addison Kartusch, Jeri Lafleche & Jewel Lafleche of Winnipeg and 2023 Manitoba Junior champion Crystal Zamzow of Swan River. The inter-provincial team competition will take place over the first two rounds.
