The Glenboro/Carberry/Baldur Wildcats and Killarney/Wawanesa Raiders have advanced to the Westman High School Hockey League semifinals. Trey Dickson had two goals and an assist as Glenboro/Carberry/Baldur downed the Sandy Bay Badgers 6-4. Russell Outhwaite scored the tying goal on the power play at 8:28 of the third period and Josh Archambault potted the winner 1:47 into overtime as Killarney/Wawanesa edged the McCreary/Ste. Rose Mountaineers 5-4. The Wildcats and Raiders swept those best-of-three quarterfinals in two straight and join the Vincent Massey Vikings in round two of the WHSHL playoffs. 


The Brandon Wheat Kings gave up six unanswered goals and lost 7-1 to the Moose Jaw Warriors at Westoba Place. Jake Chiasson had the lone goal for the Wheat Kings. Dawson Cowan recorded the shutout in his Western Hockey League debut as the the Winnipeg Ice blanked the Calgary Hitmen 4-0. The 16-year-old Warren native stopped all 23 shots he faced. Conor Geekie, Chase Wheatcroft, Matthew Savoie and Mikey Milne did the goal scoring for the Ice who won for the 40th time this season. 


Kyle Connor scored his team leading 38th goal and added two assists as the Winnipeg Jets downed the Vegas Golden Knights 7-3 at Canada Life Centre. Blake Wheeler, Nikolaj Ehlers, Logan Stanley, Mark Scheifele, Adam Lowry and Josh Morrissey also scored for the Jets who have won four of their past five games. Lowry's shorthanded marker was his third of the season. Winnipeg's Connor Hellebuyck made 35 saves. 


Jeff Malott's 18th goal of the season was the overtime winner as the Manitoba Moose shaded the Abbotsford Canucks 2-1. C.J. Suess scored for the Moose in regulation. Manitoba netminder Arvid Holm made 19 saves.


Garden City girls and St. Paul's boys are Provincial AAAA Junior Varsity basketball champions. The Fighting Gophers beat the Vincent Massey Trojans 60-44 while the Crusaders defeated the Sisler Spartans 90-70. St. Paul's won the Provincial AAAA JV basketball championship banner one day after the Crusaders hockey team captured the Provincial AAAA championship in Selkirk.
