The Portage Terriers season came to an end Thursday night in Camrose, Alberta. The Terriers dropped a 6-3 decision to the Wellington Dukes and then watched the two-time RBC Cup champion Vernon Vipers beat the Pembroke Lumber Kings 5-3. Tyler Moore, Cory More and Yvan Pattyn scored for the Manitoba Junior Hockey League champions in their lose to Wellington. The Terriers, Dukes and Lumber Kings all finished the preliminary round with 1-3 records. As a result of the tie-breaker Pembroke edged out Portage and Wellington for third place. The first tie-breaker was goals for, plus goals against, divided by goals for (GF GA/GF), with the lower number taking the higher seed. But all three teams finished with even, meaning the next tie-breaker was GF GA/GF in all four games, which left the Lumber Kings (11 14/11=2.27) ahead of the Dukes (12 16/12=2.33) and Terriers (12 17/12=2.42). Wellington will meet Vernon in one semifinal while Pembroke will face the host Camrose Kodiaks in the other.
