Boissevain-Morton gives back over $56K donated to charities through Donor's Choice
Boissevain-Morton residents donated a total of $56,185 to a wide variety of charitable organizations in 2025 through the Donor's Choice program. Cheques to the 25 organizations were given out last week Monday at the Civic Center Board Room. "Yes, the local citizens stepped up again for 2025," says Board Chair, Barry Lamb. "No big surprises! The largest recipient was the Boissevain Food Pantry picking up around $5400. So roughly 10% of all the donations went to that one organization. And as their representative said at our AGM, it is indicative of the demand for their services and the need for the food pantry in the community. And they were very much appreciative of that money coming in." This year's total donations are down a bit from last year, roughly $6,000. "But we aren't too alarmed by that when you consider the economic situation with groceries and a lot of other factors, and what's going on in the world. People have to make some choices with their disposable income that they do have. But the fact is that we stayed in the mid $50,000's and the groups that are part of our recipient list are very appreciative of that money that did come in over the past year," he says. "It's nice to see that people still are in a giving mood." "We appreciate the support from the agencies that are on our list. There's going to be 26 of them in 2026 and we hope everybody remains in a giving mood." Boissevain's Beckoning Hills Museum will be returning to the Donor's Choice list in 2026. "We know things can be tough for a lot of families out there and we certainly understand that we're simply an organization that is kind of a conduit for money coming in and flowing out. And we are just the source that handles it for the people that want to give. We just hope we can help the agencies are on our list and that everybody benefits from the hard work those groups are doing in the community!" adds Lamb.
